At the top If you want to see the great views you need to head downhill a ways. Even with the insanely large scenic view sign finding the spur trail can be a challenging with several other beaten paths heading in different directions from the top, obviously caused by other hikers trying to find the view point. Plus it doesn’t help the trail has no painted markers, and that many guide books and articles indicate it is a short distance from the top. The reality is the view point is approximately 300 to 400 feet downhill, so you can’t see it from the top. From the “scenic view” sign head straight downhill over the ledge. Near the downhill wooded edge turn slightly to left and the trail heads steeply downhill through some large pine trees. The trail then becomes much more obvious.
